Delete your Xodos account

How to close your Xodos account and have the personal data linked to it deleted, what the law requires us to keep, and for how long.

How to delete your account

  1. Step 1: Settle what's in your account

We can close your account once:

    • Any open trades have settled
    • Your shares are sold, or transferred to another broker
    • Your cash balance is withdrawn to your bank account
    • Any outstanding fees are paid

If you still hold shares or cash, say what you'd like done with them in your request and we'll work through it with you. Download your statements first if you'll need them for tax, because you won't be able to sign in afterwards.

  2. Step 2: Email us your request

Use the button on this page, or write to us yourself, from the email address registered to your account. You don't need to sign in or reinstall the app.

  3. Step 3: Confirm it's you

We'll reply to confirm your account email and ask for one other detail linked to your account. This stops anyone else from closing it. We can't act on a request we're unable to verify.

  4. Step 4: We close your account and delete your data

We'll confirm in writing within 30 days (45 days for California residents), including anything we've had to keep and why. Once complete, deletion can't be undone.

What we delete

  • Your login details and app profile
  • Marketing preferences, referral data, survey responses and feedback
  • App usage and analytics data linked to you, such as feature interactions and push notification history
  • Any other personal data that no law, regulator or open claim requires us to keep

What we keep, and for how long

As a capital markets platform we're legally required to keep some records after an account closes. We keep them only to meet those obligations, then securely delete or anonymise them.

Identity and KYC/AML records
At least 5 years from account closure, or longer where anti-money-laundering law requires.
Transaction and financial records
At least 7 years from the date of each transaction, for tax and record-keeping law in Nigeria, the UK, the US and Canada.
Trade confirmations and settlement records
At least 5 years from the date of each trade, as SEC Nigeria and NGX require.
Customer support and complaints records
At least 3 years from when a complaint is resolved.
Technical and security logs
Up to 24 months from collection, unless needed for a security, fraud or legal investigation.

Our regulated partners, ARM Securities (broker), RMB (custodian) and CSCS (depository), keep their own records of your trades and holdings under the rules that apply to them.

If you're not happy with how we handled it

Tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
